Genetics is the study pertaining to genes in biology. This study can include chromosomes, the variation of genes, and heredity. Scientists study genetics to discover ways to diagnosis and treat illnesses. Genetics does not only pertain to the human body but any living organism.
Why is Genetics Important for Students to Study?
Studying genetics can help students discover how they were created and why they have the traits they have. Students will better understand how their bodies work and what is happening within their bodies. Students will also discover that organisms share basic life needs but come in different forms because of their genetics. Each organism has a different set of genes and is built differently. They have different cells. Students will gain knowledge about why organisms come in different forms and why there is so much variation in the world.
